Specialist television industry broker About Corporate Finance (ACF) has acquired rival Mediatique to increase its presence in the UK and US.
ACF, which has helped negotiate indie sales including
The Garden Productions to ITV and
Left Bank Pictures to Sony Pictures Television, has picked up Tom Manwaring’s business as part of a non-cash deal.
Manwaring, who brokered the sale of
Firecracker Films to Tinopolis last year, will swap his equity stake in Mediatique for an investment in ACF and become the company’s third managing director.
Sachin Dosani and Richard Gray are the other ACF managing directors, while the broker is run by chief executive Thomas Dey.
Together, the two companies have concluded 50 UK and US production deals over the past eight years, which have a combined transaction value of over $2bn (£1.31bn).
Manwaring and his senior associate Dane Phillips will move to ACF’s offices on Great Titchfield Street today, taking with them any live client relationships.
“We have always competed in the same space and it made a lot of sense for us to come together. It will position us better to take advantage of the opportunity in the US,” Manwaring said.
Manwaring also advised on the £25m sale of Wall to Wall to Shed Media in 2007 and ITV’s £35m deal to acquire 12 Yard the same year.
